A BILL to amend article six, chapter sixteen of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended,
by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twenty-five, relating to requiring food handlers in
restaurants to wear protective gloves.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article six, chapter sixteen of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twenty-five, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 6. HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS.
§16-6-25. Food handlers to wear protective gloves.
All employees of any establishment regulated pursuant to this article are required to wear protective gloves while
handling food on the premises of the establishment. For the
purposes of this section, the word "establishment" includes those
establishments commonly referred to as "fast food" restaurants.
The state health department shall publish standards for the
types of protective gloves.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require food handlers
in all restaurants to wear protective gloves.
